BMC Air filter Cleaning Kit Detergent 500ml & Oil 250ml Aerosol Spray - WA200-500

The BMC WA200-500 is the aerosol alternative to the squeeze-bottle kit we just discussed. While the detergent remains the same, the 250ml Aerosol Spray changes the application method for the filter oil, making it the preferred choice for those who prioritize speed and even coverage.
Kit Contents
-
Detergent (500ml Bottle): The standard BMC liquid cleaner used to break down dirt and old oil.
-
Filter Oil (250ml Aerosol): A pressurized spray can that atomizes the red filter oil into a fine mist.
Aerosol (WA200) vs. Squeeze Bottle (WA250)
Deciding between the two kits usually comes down to the shape of your filter and your personal maintenance style:
| Feature | WA200-500 (Aerosol) | WA250-500 (Squeeze) |
| Speed | Very fast; coats the surface in seconds. | Slower; requires tracing each pleat. |
| Coverage | Best for large, flat car filters or complex shapes. | Best for small motorcycle cylindrical filters. |
| Precision | Risk of "overspray" on the frame/work area. | High precision; zero waste. |
| Saturation | Easier to get a light, uniform coat. | Risk of over-saturation if not careful. |
Pro-Tips for Using the Aerosol Spray
Using a spray can makes it easy to go overboard. To get a professional result without triggering a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor error:
-
The "6-Inch Rule": Hold the can approximately 6 to 8 inches (15–20 cm) away from the filter.
-
Light Passes: Spray in quick, steady sweeps. Do not "soak" the cotton until it drips.
-
The "Wick" Time: After spraying, the filter might look a bit patchy. Wait 15–30 minutes. The oil will naturally "wick" (spread) across the cotton fibers. Only touch up the white spots that remain after the wait.
-
Color Check: The filter should be a consistent light red. If it looks deep crimson or is dripping, you’ve used too much. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to dab away the excess.
When to Clean Your BMC Filter?
BMC generally recommends a full "Regeneration" (wash and oil) every 15,000 miles (25,000 km). However, you should check it sooner if:
-
You live in a dusty or sandy environment.
-
You notice a slight drop in throttle response or fuel economy.
-
The red oil has faded significantly to a dull gray/white (indicating the oil has dried out or is saturated with dust).
Quick Warning: Just like the other kit, never use a high-pressure power washer to rinse the filter. The force can tear the delicate cotton gauze, rendering the filter useless.
