The BMC WA250-500 is the official maintenance "recharge" kit for BMC high-performance air filters. Unlike disposable paper filters, BMC filters are designed to be washed, re-oiled, and reused for the life of the vehicle.

This specific kit provides the necessary supplies to restore the filter's airflow and filtration efficiency.

Kit Contents

  • Detergent (500ml): A specialized non-corrosive cleaning solution designed to break down road grime, grease, and old filter oil without damaging the cotton filtration layers.

  • Filter Oil (250ml Squeeze Bottle): A low-viscosity adhesive oil that "tacky-fies" the cotton fibers to catch microscopic dust particles. The squeeze bottle allows for precise application compared to aerosol sprays.

The 4-Step Maintenance Process

To ensure you don't damage your high-flow filter, follow this sequence:

  1. Cleaning: Apply the detergent generously to both sides of the filter. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes (do not let it dry completely).

  2. Rinsing: Rinse the filter with low-pressure water (like a garden hose or tap) from the clean side to the dirty side. This flushes the dirt out rather than pushing it deeper into the cotton.

  3. Drying: Allow the filter to air dry naturally.

    • Warning: Never use compressed air or a hair dryer. High heat can shrink the cotton, and high pressure can create holes in the filtration media.

  4. Oiling: Once bone-dry, apply a thin bead of oil along the top of each "pleat" (ridge). Wait about 20 minutes for the oil to wick across the entire surface. The filter should turn a uniform red color.

Why Use the Squeeze Bottle (WA250) vs. Spray?

Many enthusiasts prefer the 250ml squeeze bottle included in this kit over the spray version because:

  • Precision: You can target the oil exactly where it's needed without getting "overspray" on the filter frame or your clothes.

  • Sensor Protection: It is easier to avoid over-oiling. Excess oil can sometimes migrate into the intake and coat the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, which can cause "Check Engine" lights or poor idling.

  • Longevity: A 250ml bottle typically lasts for several cleanings (depending on filter size).

  • Quick Warning: Just like the other kit, never use a high-pressure power washer to rinse the filter. The force can tear the delicate cotton gauze, rendering the filter useless.
